Done done done done DONE!

That's the word that anybody who talks to me these days is sick of hearing, especially my poor husband. But it's true. I'm done. I'm done with being so uncomfortable all the time. I'm done not being able to snuggle my sweet Brynlee. I'm done with my feet being the size of the michelin man. I'm done with constant back pain. I'm done with needing to ask for help to do simple things because I am just too big. I'm done with the anxiety of labor...I just want it to happen already. I am done with the looks and the remarks I get every time somebody sees me. I know they are just being nice, but I am just ready enough on my own without other people constantly pointing out how large, ready to pop, or tired I look. You are right people...I am ALL of those things, but I already know them. Just smile and tell me I look pretty :) (Haha but no really....).

I am officially considered full term now at 37 weeks.
Brynlee was born a week from today so here's hoping.

I have retired all but 2 pairs of pants, both yoga pants, because of how I have carried this baby, even my old maternity pants are fitting anymore. Plus they are capris and it's getting a bit chilly to not be in pants.

I am healthy.
Baby is healthy.
I'm technically 3 weeks away from D-Day.
People keep telling me I can do this.
I can do this.
I can do this.
It's almost over.
I'll have a baby soon.
This will all be over soon.

35 weeks: Pregnancy Update

How far along? 35 weeks!
How big is the baby? About 5.5 lbs and 18 inches long!
Maternity clothes? Only. I actually am down to one pair of pregnancy pants and two pairs of yoga pants that get rotated during the week and one skirt for Sundays. Let's be honest, at this point at home, it's no clothes!
Sleep? Not so good. I actually sleep ok, but I am up to pee at least twice every night, sometimes four times. It's ridiculous! And with all of my joints loosening and spreading rolling over in bed is SUPER painful!
Best moment this week? I found a way to lay that relieved all of my back pain. It was like magic! The pillows were all just right and I didn't want to move...EVER! I also broke down and bought myself a huge oversized towel so that it can wrap all the way around me!! Spencer made so much fun of me for being so happy, but I literally almost cried. It's the little things.
Symptoms? Swollen feet. BAD. My belly is almost sore to the touch from how hard this girl kicks and how constantly. I am SO TIRED. By the end of the day I am about as done as done can be. Waddling, always. I am breaking out like crazy, stupid hormones! Plus my nails are peeling to shreds, not a huge fan of that symptom.
Food cravings? Still lots of sugar. Luckily Halloween came right in time and my house is now stocked to help me make it through the rest of the weeks! Most of the time what I really crave though is chocolate chip cookies!
Food aversions? None...it's a problem.
Gender? Still a girl! Ultrasound tech said that there was no doubt :)
Labor signs? None. I haven't even had many braxton hicks lately. Guess she's comfy in there.
Belly button in or out? OUT. It never popped out with Brynlee and the whole thing is totally out now, I think because I am carrying her so low.
What I miss? Laying comfortably in bed. Hugging my husband. Being able to keep up with my toddler. Being able to bend over to pick stuff up without being afraid I'm going to fall down. A clean home (let's be honest, that doesn't happen very often these days).
What I'm looking forward to? Birth. And Thanksgiving dinner. I want thanksgiving dinner so bad. I want leftover turkey on rolls too...mmmmmmm :) But mostly birth! And our OCD shirts :)
Milestones? If she were born now she would have a VERY high chance of being perfectly healthy. Spencer says he is sure I will go before Thanksgiving but even if I don't, only 5 more weeks! There is a good chance I could have this baby THIS MONTH!
Bump? Is that even a question?

34 weeks + an ULTRASOUND!

I'm moving my due date.
The doctor won't, but every single ultrasound she has measured 3 days ahead and today she measured 4 days ahead. So, as of now, my due date is December 3rd!! :)

Today was such a good day. We all got up, got ready, and headed to the doctor's office! We always take Brynlee to the ultrasounds because she loves seeing baby sister on the TV. Today was no exception. They took us back and got me all set up and the first thing the tech does is go to 3D and shows me this :)
Holy cow!!! What a huge difference!! She looks so much more like a baby than she did at 20 weeks!!

From this point on the grin never left my face. Brynlee kept saying how baby sister was, "SO LITTLE!"
She was wiggling and moving and putting on a little show for us the whole time! She was making the funniest faces and I just could not get enough!! And neither could the ultrasound tech! She just kept saying how cute my baby was and how she could do this all day! I told her that I don't even care if she says that to everybody...I was taking it as a compliment because my baby is stinking adorable!!

LOOK AT THOSE CHEEKS!!!
I can't even believe it! She has 6 more weeks in there! She is going to come out with like 10 chins if she keeps this up!! And her little nose...and that look with her lips!! I could just die.

That chubby little hand.
She is weighing in at 5 lb 3 oz which is the 55th percentile and she is measuring at 34 weeks 1 day :) The tech said she is also most DEFINITELY a girl which was very nice to hear because I kept being so worried that she would be born only it would be a he not a she and I wouldn't be ready!!

My blood pressure is still good which is a huge relief because I'm so afraid of getting preeclamsia again!! I know the signs to look out for though :) Brynlee was born at 38 weeks 1 day so I could very possibly be having a baby in just about a month! Where have the past 8 months gone?!?!

I think she looks just like Brynlee. Brynlee always used to do this cute little pucker/pout and this baby is doing it too! She kept putting her little hands up by her face and I could even see her swallowing and kicking. She is head down and ready to finish up her stay in Hotel Mom. I cannot wait to meet you baby girl!! I love you so much already and after seeing your face today, I want to hold you even more!! You are so pretty and I just want to hold you!!!!! Soon enough.

Brynlee through September

I feel like it's about time for another post of the happenings of Brynlee, a lot keeps changing, even in just a week's time.

Brynlee and Grandma are the bestest of buds these days and she wants to do everything grandma does!  She always wants to do curlers with grandma when she's getting ready!

Grammy got new glasses so we went to Costco to pick some out and HAD to try them on!

Brynlee loves the puppies, she wants to love them climbing all over her, but she just doesn't haha. But she does it anyways. Silly girl!
So. Brynlee got REALLY behind on her shots because of insurance crap and I decided it was finally time to get caught up. I took her to the free clinic in Mesa and she had to get poked 5 times!!! (7 different immunizations) They were actually her 12 month shots. I felt so so bad for her. I think that was one of the hardest things I have had to do. She felt so so betrayed  and I did it to her. Oh it broke my heart. Luckily with some love, some sonic slush, and a trip to the park, she forgave me and kept on smiling that sweet smile! We have to go back in March but then she is DONE! So happy.

Did I mention Brynlee likes to get ready with Grandma?? She also likes makeup! :)

Brynlee checked out the book Pinkalicious from the library. She fell in love and wanted to read it every day! It is the one where she turns pink because she eats too many pink cupcakes. Well, because I am the coolest and funnest mom ever, we made some pink sugar cookies with pink sprinkles :). She had so much fun and it was the easiest project ever! She also ate about 4 of them. Oh well! I'm so glad I'm having girls!

I do this with her shirt a lot when I get her undressed, but this particular time I did it and she left it there and said, "Mommy take a picture?" Well...if you insist :)

Who does this? I walked in her room in the morning to get her up and chimed my normal, "Gooooooood" to which she normally replies, "MORNING!" This morning, she didn't respond so I crept in thinking she was maybe talking in her sleep. She looked at me like this, said, "Turn on the light", and then didn't move. My kid is so weird.

She also has become EXTREMELY independent. She always wants to get dressed by herself! The only problem is that she gets both legs in one hole EVERY time. It's so funny. One time she did it, stood up, took two steps and fell down sideways and bumped her head. I know that's not funny, but now, every time she is putting on her own pants she says, "Member happened? I bonk my head" haha! She remembers! She is so smart. And in these pictures she just skipped panties all together.

We went to story time at the library and she LOVED it. But this is how it started. The lady was in a pirate costume with a parrot puppet on her hand and Brynlee was NOT too sure about it. By the end she was singing and participating, and as we walked out with her coloring and treasures she says, "That so fun!" haha. We will definitely be going back.

She is completely potty trained now! She takes herself, wipes herself, goes a couple hours without having to pee and then actually lets it all out which is a HUGE improvement. .She is out of diapers for naps and probably could be for bedtime too but since she is still in her crib and she can't get up to take herself, I like to keep it on for just in case. She wakes up dry every morning though. It is seriously so nice being done with the potty training!

She has stopped biting her nails (hallelujia!!!!!!), her hair is growing in thicker and softer, and we finally found a product that will keep it tame through the day. :) She is so cute. Every morning when I get her up she wants to sit with me in the rocking chair for a bit. She even asks for it if I don't go strait there. I love that time with her because it's just us talking.

She speaks in full sentences and has the best memory of anyone I have ever met. She remember every specific detail from things that happened WEEKS ago and talks about them in daily conversation.

She loves to eat daddy's cereal and I could just about DIE because of the way she looks at him. We love that he only has one class this semester so we still get to see him.

I feel like the better she talks, the less she listens. She used to be so obedient and now she just fights every single thing we tell her to do. It's exhausting! By the end of the day my patience is usually super thin. It's a hard age, but I really love it so much. She is her own little person and I am so glad she's MY little person :).

Answers to Prayers

Though you may feel weary, though you sometimes may not be able to see the way, know that your Father in Heaven will never forsake His righteous followers. He will not leave you comfortless. He will be at your side, yes, guiding you every step of the way.
-Elder Joseph B Wirthlin

I really want to get this story down somewhere because of what a huge blessing it was to me and so that I can have it to remember in as much detail as possible. It may be long but it's important!

I have really struggled being a working mom. It didn't bother me so much at first, but as Brynlee gets older it gets harder and harder. She cries more, sleeps less, and is constantly telling me "No work mommy!" or when she asks to do something, I will start it for her and she always asks "Mommy do it with me?" It breaks my heart to have to tell her no so often that I won't do things with her. It also makes my evenings really stressful since I can't even start dinner until after 6 and then I am usually so tired that I have almost no energy to do anything at night.

*DISCLAIMER: I know a lot of people have problems way bigger and do much harder things. I do. But this is a trial that I have been dealing with and so I'm going to tell it like it is.*

I go through phases where I just really feel like I can't do it anymore. There is too much going on, Brynlee is being stubborn, and I just can't. I usually talk to my mom about it and she has told me time and time again that I just need to stop working, have faith, and my life would be so much happier. I always told her that I was sure that it would, but the math didn't add up on paper. We needed my income.

The past few months we have made a couple of trips to the ER plus multiple doctor's visits because of Spencer's heart. We still aren't sure exactly what is going on, but we did find out that his dad's new insurance is really terrible and doesn't cover almost anything. Too bad we figured that out AFTER we got the bills. Let's just say, $1800 later in ER bills plus $500 in doctor's visits and tests wasn't in the plans. Luckily his parents are AMAZING and since we didn't know what we were getting into (they didn't even know either!) they totally have helped us lessen that financial burden and we are SO grateful. But still. Not in the plans. Also, back in May our second car died. We knew it was coming one day, but weren't ready when it did. We ended up buying a new (to us) car which added a car payment to our monthly bills. We are also paying for insurance (don't even get me started...) which is unbelievable unrealistic. Then add to the fact that financial aid isn't helping with school anymore and when Spencer transfers over to ASU soon we are going to be adding those bills. But anyways. We are basically at a point where almost every single penny is going to bills. And that's ok, but it is not comfortable. And it just gave me NO hope of ever getting to stop working. Especially once the new baby comes in December.

I didn't know what to do. I really don't want to work, I have faith that being a mom is what I need to do, and I didn't know how I was going to work with a toddler and a newborn, but I was going to do it because it was what needed to be done.

Well one morning I just lost it. I called my mom and was just bawling my eyes out telling her that I couldn't do it anymore. Brynlee was making no progress in the potty training development (even though she actually was), she was sleeping terribly which made our days really long and nap time stressful, we didn't have any answers to Spencer's medical stuff even after we paid for hundreds of dollars in tests, and I was just overwhelmed. I felt like my plate was the size of a quarter and I had a Thanksgiving sized feast I was trying to fit on it. Then add on pregnancy hormones and no ability to nap and it was a perfect storm.

Again my mom said, "It sounds like your life is in a tornado right now and you just need to sit down, figure out the things you have control over and the things that you don't. And I promise it will be so much better if you just stop working". "I know" I would say, "but I just don't see a way out." I decided that morning that I was going to stop spending extra money. I wasn't going to buy stuff here and there, I wasn't going to go out to eat (which is a big deal for me), and I was going to try really hard at meal planning so that our grocery bill would be smaller. I was determined. More determined than I had been any of the other times that I had decided the same thing.

"The only thing you need to worry about is striving to be the best you can be. And how do you do that? You keep your eye on the goals that matter most in life, and you move towards them step by step." -Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin

That was my first step.

That day I got an email from my boss. She was asking me if I had thought any more about how much time I was going to take for maternity leave. I had decided to tell her 6 weeks (which feels like a long time but I think it's actually less than most people take). I also told her I had been mulling over the idea of having less hours when I came back for a while until I got used to working with two kids. I was so scared to send that email because I didn't want her to think that it isn't worth it to keep me around. So you imagine my horror when the email I get back says, "Ok, I need to talk with you. When would be a good time?" My heart just sank. Every bad scenario was playing in my brain. I told her now would be fine so she gave me a call. Without going into boring work terms, one of the companies we do liking for had been sold and it was the one I work in. She said that after the first of the year we would most likely not be doing their linking anymore. She said there was a possibility of letting people go but that they were going to try to rearrange.

At this point I was pretty sure the next line coming out of her mouth would be, "So we won't have a job for you once you come back".

Then she said, we are mostly likely going to have to cut back your hours. I asked her how much and she said probably less than half of what I am doing now (25 hours a week). She also said that she would have to switch me to a morning shift.

Most people who received this call would have been upset, hurt, and even angry. But this is how I saw it.

1. Less hours: I had already asked for less hours and thought that was making them mad, but it turns out that it might have even helped me! From what I can gather, I might only work about 10 hours a week once I go back to work which is about 2 hours a day. That would be AMAZING!! I actually don't even hate the work I do and it makes me feel like I am contributing, but 6 hours a day is just too long. It will also make me not completely lose my income, but just reduce it.

2. Morning shift: When I first got this job a year ago the afternoon shift was perfect. Brynlee slept almost the whole time and then she just played really good after that. Well now that she is a year older and is a busy two year old, the afternoons are really hard. She is just grumpy and wants my attention. The great things is, she is so good in the mornings. She has just had a good nights' rest, breakfast, and hasn't had to be by herself at all that day. Half the time I can do chores or talk on the phone and she just plays perfect by herself. What a perfect change at the perfect time to let me get the part of the day where I can't give her my attention out of the way while she is well behaved.

3. Timing wise: My maternity leave will start roughly the first week in December. 6 weeks from then will be mid January which is when I would come back. The first of January is when they start all of the changes. That means that they will have two weeks to rearrange, put people where they need to go, figure out the hours, and know that I will be coming in a week or two. It seriously could not have worked out more perfectly timing wise.

4. Money wise: It's going to be a big pay cut for me. But I am hoping that I can use the next three months to get the hang of the whole no spending extra money thing so that once that happens it's not going to be such a drastic life style change. Our electricity drops DRASTICALLY next month so we will have a little bit of extra money there. We are also on payment plans for all of our hospital bills, school payments, and extra expenses. Turns out, we will finish paying off ALL of them (except maybe one) by January. Which is right when I will go back to work. So even though I will have less of a paycheck, most of the things that we need it for at this point will be taken care of (assuming of course nothing else drastic happens before then). There is still the case of the hospital bill for when this baby is born, but the perfect timing of that is that we will get our taxes back in Feb/March which I think is right when we will get the hospital bill. We always get a good chunk back, plus we will have another baby, so we should hopefully be able to pay off that bill in full and put a large payment down on our car to lower our monthly payment! Spencer also gets a Christmas bonus and possibly a raise so we will still have some money for Christmas.

I know this all seems really jumbled and all over the place, but that day was like that huge puzzle that you have had out and working on for months and then you sit down one time and all of the pieces just seem to fit right where they are supposed to and the picture just gets clearer and clearer.

Here is the answer to my prayer.

For months I have had this burning desire to stop working, this constant longing to just be a mom, a constant prayer in my heart, and no idea how to make it happen. We sat down, did our budget, and I made a choice. I did what needed to be done on my part to work towards that goal. THAT. DAY. I got the call from my boss with this complete and perfect answer to that prayer. It was my way out. It was my answer from Heavenly Father saying, "You can do this, and here is how." It wasn't me choosing to stop working (I felt like if I did and we weren't making it financially than it would be my fault), but it was them forcing me. Which means that we are going to be able to make it work with what we have.

When Brynlee asks me to watch a movie with her, color with her, play Barbie's with her, I can say YES.

I WILL GET TO BE A MOM.
"Teaching in the home is becoming increasingly important in today’s world, where the influence of the adversary is so widespread and he is attacking, attempting to erode and destroy the very foundation of our society, even the family. Parents must resolve that teaching in the home is a most sacred and important responsibility." - Elder L Tom Perry

I KNOW that is something that is so important and I am so glad that I have been given my way to do this teaching.

It literally felt like 5,000 pounds had been lifted off of my shoulders. I could breathe again. And although scary and unknown, I knew that it was going to be ok and I felt so good about it. I pretty much did nothing but cry that entire rest of the day because I was so happy to have this huge answer to the question I had been having for months. I felt so at peace.

I talked to Spencer when he got home and told him my story. He was not as happy as me, let's just say that. But he could see in me that I knew. He could tell how happy I was and how much of a burden it took off of me. And it's nice because it's not happening right now. We have a few months to prepare and to get ourselves ready for this change.

I know we are going to be ok. I have faith that because I am doing what Heavenly Father put me on this Earth to do, that I will be able to do it. It's not going to be easy, and it's going to take WORK and EFFORT on my half to make it. But I am willing to put in that work. I have done much better at not eating out and spending money and am trying to be better every day.

There is still a chance that they are going to let me go, but I feel like I have been there on the longer side and am good enough at what I do that they will at least try to keep me.

Two of the quotes I posted are from this talk. If you feel tired, discouraged, or that you don't have a way out. You should read/listen to it and feel the love I felt from my Heavenly Father as I read it.

Preganancy Update: 26 Weeks

23 Weeks with Brynlee (left) and with baby girl (right)

25 weeks with Brynlee (left) and baby girl (right)

26 weeks with Brynlee (left) and baby girl (right)
I feel like I am carrying way lower with this pregnancy which is why I think I am more uncomfortable.

How far along? 26 weeks!
How big is the baby? About 2 lbs and about 14 inches long
Maternity clothes? Yes! Broke out my maternity pants a few weeks ago and I am so much happier! I also got to go shopping with some Ross credit I had last week and came back with 3 new shirts! SCORE!
Sleep? Still sleeping ok now that I have my pregnancy pillow, but I am having more and more frequent potty breaks in the night, almost every single night I get up around 2:30.
Best moment this week? Baby girl responded to Spencer's voice last night! He kept talking to her and she would always kick right after he did. She loves her daddy :)
Symptoms? I have been feeling super dizzy and nauseous and I have a hard time focusing or even having the energy to move sometimes. I usually feel like I'm going to pass out. I talked to a nurse today and she told me that she thinks it's a blood sugar drop so I am going to start eating more protein snacks between meals and if that doesn't help we will look into me maybe being anemic.
Food cravings? SUGAR. With Brynlee I craved salty stuff (crackers, chips, etc) but with this baby I always want chocolate, ice cream, cookies....it's so bad. I also usually have a craving for a sub sandwich though, so that's random!
Food aversions? None...it's a problem.
Gender? Hopefully still a GIRL!
Labor signs? Braxton hicks every time I go up some stairs, but nowhere near labor yet!
Belly button in or out? It's almost out. It is the weirdest looking thing...
What I miss? Standing up and being able to walk without starting at a waddle. Also I miss my underwear fitting me, they are so tight on my belly now!
What I'm looking forward to? I have a doctor's appointment next week so I'm excited to check on baby girl! Also looking forward to officially finding baby's name! I think I almost have Spencer on board!
Milestones? Baby has started opening her eyes and practice breathing! She is also getting more cramped so I can start to identify parts of her body more regularly!
Bump? Yes. A large one. I feel so big sometimes like I can't stretch any farther, but I know better! I have 14 weeks to go but I can't wait to meet this girl!
I find myself doing this a lot putting my hand right at the top of my tummy. I can always feel her if I push down right on top and sometimes I can move her little leg from one side to the other. I love it so much! I love that there is a tiny human inside of me!

Brynlee's First Hair Cut 8-17-15

So Brynlee's hair has had a rough few months. She went from gorgeous-deep red-thick-blowing in the wind hair, to this weird wispy- light-mad scientist hair. At first I was worried, but it has started growing back so I felt better and decided to let it do its' thing. We went with Spencer to get his hair cut and my cousin Deanna was the one cutting it. I asked her if she would be ok just trimming and evening out Brynlee's hair too because it was like a comb over on top of the fresh hair. Brynlee sat so big and didn't move a muscle. It has since grown in quite a bit and I'm hoping we will be back in ponies in the near future!!

My Big Girl!
